DescriptionThe whole story▼
This is the 2025 Ryusei Yamanaka replica — the helmet in the rider's own colours rather than a graphic drawn for the catalogue. It is one of two replicas in the Targo S range.
An entry sport full-face with two homologations
Full ECE 22.06 approval means the current schedule rather than the superseded 22.05: more impact points, higher test speeds, and a rotational-impact assessment the older standard did not include.
🔵 Worth checking on any sport-styled helmet you compare this with — a good number at this price still hold only the older revision.
About the Yamanaka 2025 replica
Replica helmets occupy a particular position and it is worth being straight about it: mechanically this is identical to the other Targo S versions. Same HIRP shell, same MT-V-14B visor, same MT-QVSS mechanism, same MT-Micrometric+ closure, same approvals. What you are buying is a paint scheme, and specifically his paint scheme — which is a perfectly good reason, provided you know that is what it is. Practically, white and red is among the more conspicuous combinations here, and the white areas show road film sooner than the red ones. 🔵 Replicas are also the least reprintable finishes on any shelf: they run for a season, and a chipped one cannot be touched in the way a solid colour can. If the association is the reason you want it, that is reason enough; if you are choosing on appearance alone, the standard Outside graphics stay in the range longer and are easier to replace. Practically, white and red is also a good combination for a helmet used on the road rather than displayed: the red carries the visibility and the white keeps the overall value high in flat light.
The sun visor this helmet does not have
Sunset on a westbound road is where a missing sun visor is felt most, because a fixed tinted visor is exactly the wrong tool for it — half an hour later it is dark and you cannot see through it.
🔵 With no drop-down shield, the practical answer on this helmet is sunglasses under a clear visor, or swapping to a tinted one before you set off.
HIRP and 1.5 kilograms
The structure is conventional and appropriate: an injection-moulded HIRP shell to spread the load and resist penetration, over a polystyrene liner that absorbs energy by permanently crushing.
🔵 A crushed liner does not recover. After a real impact the helmet is finished, whatever it looks like from outside.
MT-V-14B, MT-QVSS and the anti-fog insert you buy separately
Tool-free visor changes matter more than usual on this helmet, because with no drop-down sun visor you will be swapping between a clear and a tinted visor rather than flicking a lever.
🔵 MT-QVSS makes that a ten-second job with nothing to unscrew and nothing to drop — the mechanism that made MT's name in this class.
The MT-Micrometric+ closure
What a micrometric closure gives you over a simple buckle is fine adjustment. You are not choosing between two holes; you are setting the strap to the millimetre and clicking to the same place every time.
🔵 Correct tension: one finger under the strap with the helmet on, and no more.
Interior, fit and the five-size range
🔵 A new helmet should feel firm but never painful. The lining beds in over the first few hours and again across the first season, so a helmet that is perfect in the shop will usually be loose by the summer's end. Start tighter than comfortable.
The interior comes out entirely for washing, and replacement pads are available if the fit loosens.
Universal UCS intercom housing
An intercom on a sport helmet earns its keep in traffic and on navigation rather than on the open road: prompts without looking at a screen, and a call answered without stopping.
🔵 The Targo S has a universal UCS housing; the system itself is a separate purchase.
What a rider replica is — and is not
Rider replicas at this price are unusual. The same idea from a premium brand costs three or four times as much, and the Targo S versions put it within reach of a rider buying their first sport helmet.
🔵 What you are paying for is the licence and the artwork — the helmet underneath is the 119-euro one.
Where it sits in MT's range
Within this model the price ladder is almost entirely paint. Three of the four versions cost 119 € and the Piqueras replica 132 € — same shell, same visor, same closure, same approvals throughout.
🔵 The cheapest Targo S protects exactly as well as the most expensive.
When something wears out
Helmets are consumables with a long life rather than permanent objects. MT, like every manufacturer, recommends replacement after around five years of use regardless of condition — and immediately after any real impact, because the EPS crushes once and does not recover.
Between those points, everything you touch on this helmet is replaceable.

Rated. Certified. Lit.
“MCN ran it for six months and rated the value as incredible, and the visor mechanism is genuinely one of the best. Two things are missing: there is no sun visor, and one shell size covers every head — which is where the 1,550 g comes from.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06.
HIRP shell — but only one shell size for the whole range.
Quiet compared with other helmets at this price.
Comfortable over longer rides.
One of the best visor-release mechanisms MCN has used.
Rated 4 of 5, though it mists easily without a Pinlock.
1,550 g, largely because of the single shell size.
One shell size across every helmet size.
MCN tested it for six months and called it incredible value.
